Should we provide a price list for creative services?

For me, yes or no. According to my experience and opinion, it is possible to give a price list but it can be quite challenging.

Let me give you an example, in most of the restaurants, the prices for “Spaghetti Bolognese” and “Fish & Chips” are normally different. Why? Cause it takes different ingredients, time & effort to prepare for each dish.

The same principles apply to branding and design services. The price depends on the complexity of each project, as each project takes different time and effort.

For me, I tend to have a chat with the potential client first, then generate a quote based on the brief.

No disrespect to other fellow designers or agencies, some of them provide fixed prices for their creative services. But in most of the cases, the price list is probably just an estimate to give you a rough idea, the actual quote may vary, depending on the brief, requirements and needs of each individual project. Or, probably, the designer or agency may only offer a certain style or package for the fixed pricing.

Before you make a decision on whom to use, always try to have a conversation with the suppliers, to find out what they can do and how they work, to avoid any misunderstandings or disappointments.

Do you have fixed prices for your services? Please feel welcome to share your thoughts in the comments.
